Renewal Process
Each driver’s license in Nova Scotia has a five-year expiration date. Following its expiration date, you can renew it. But, before it expires, the Department will issue a renewal notification. The number of days before your birthday will be deducted from the length of your license, though, if it falls close to your actual birthday. Otherwise, five years will pass. Let’s say your birthday is January 24, and you get your license on February 24. As a result, your driver’s license will run out on January 24, also your birthday. Also, you have six months from expiration to renew your Nova Scotia driver’s license anytime.
Also, since a new photo will be required, you must visit the office in person to renew your driver’s license. You can choose your IP renewal at the service counter or use the notification. Lastly, if any of the following apply to you, you must inform the representative:
- If your health has changed in any way
