Applying for a Nova Scotia Driver’s License
- New drivers
New Nova Scotia drivers who still need a driver’s license are welcome to join this club. Assume you wish to drive a car in Nova Scotia and have some prior driving experience. You will then belong to this category. You must have a Nova Scotia driver’s license to drive in the province. Before receiving a mal driver’s license, you must pass the Graduated Driving Licensing system. All participants in the GDL system at the Learner License, Newly Licensed Driver, or Restricted Individual phases are considered part of the GDL program.
- Those who formerly had a driver’s license from Nova Scotia:
You belong to this category if you formerly held a Nova Scotia driver’s license but have since lost it. Two circumstances might place you in this category: First, you won’t need to take a written or road test to renew your driver’s license in Nova Scotia if it has expired for less than five years. Second, you must purchase a knowledge test and road test receipt before applying for a new driver’s license if your Nova Scotia Driver’s Licence expired more than five years ago. You must also pass examinations for eyesight, signs, rules, and driving. A Class 1, 2 and 3, or 4 Driver’s License requires excellent medical.
- Visitors: They are older than 16, at least. Possess a driver’s license, either from Canada or another nation.
