Types of driving license

Types of driving license:

Alberta has seven different categories or types of driver’s licenses. You can operate cars, trucks, motorbikes, and commercial vehicles with driver’s licenses. The classes for an Alberta driver’s license are:

Class 1: Professional driving permit for any vehicle

Class 2: Professional bus driver’s license

Class 3: Trucks with three or more axles

Class 4: Professional taxi, ambulance, and small bus licenses

Typical Class 5 driver’s license for automobiles, light vehicles, and motorhomes

Mopeds and motorcycles fall into class 6.

Class 7: Learner’s permit for motor vehicles

It may be necessary to complete additional driver training to qualify for some driver’s license classes.
